Cannon Wines Limited was founded in San Francisco in 1979 by a team of seasoned wine marketers and salespeople. Their purpose was to create a fully integrated, national wine marketing company for premium domestic and imported brands. From the start, Cannon offered a comprehensive range of sales, marketing, and administrative services to brand owners and had ready access to a network of market-dominant distributors.
Cannon quickly built a portfolio of wine brands that are diverse in appellation, price and style, yet complementary to one another within the portfolio. Over the company’s 30-year history, the Cannon portfolio has included wines from every major wine-producing country and from the majority of the world’s most renowned appellations. With capable and experienced professional staff for all support functions – including National Accounts, sales analysis, order processing, legal compliance, and billing – Cannon soon came to represent the wines of Jeanjean, S.A., one of the ten largest wineries in France, so successfully that Jeanjean bought the company in 2002. For three decades, Cannon Wines has been at the forefront of a small, select group of specialized wine marketing companies in the United States.
